Gambling:
You must be 21 to drink or gamble. If you are under 21, you can pass through the gaming
areas, but you can't stop and loiter (watching a friend play). Most casinos are pretty
strict about ckecking for ID, even if you are a woman.
The San Remo offers all the slots and games, but the two most fun, "hang
loose" places to play that have lower limits and cheap name-brand booze prices are O'
Shea's and Casino Royale. Both are across from The Mirage (although not right next to each
other).
Weather
Vegas in not blazing hot all year around. Early February temperatures average 60 for a
high and 36 for a low, so dress accordingly. Please remember these are averages, and it is
common for the temperature to be 10 degrees above or below the average.
Booze
You can buy liquor 24/7 in Las Vegas. Liquor is available in the hotel store for those
who want to mix their own. Open containers are allowed on the Strip. You
are free to bring your drink with you from hotel to hotel, and each hotel has multiple
bars and lounges. Please remember, though, that "big brother" is watching. You
are on security camera virtually everywhere (except your room and bathrooms) both on the
strip and in hotels, including hallways, outdoor areas, etc.
Hard Rock Hotel:
The Hard Rock hotel is a "see and be seen" place with an atmosphere like no
other. Consider this a must-see with rock memorabilia, a great bar scene, and lots of fun
casino action. Free shuttle info to the Hard Rock is available on the Transportation page.
